Mark W. Schwiebert
After law school, he joined his father, Lloyd Schwiebert in the firm of Schwiebert and Schwiebert. He has been engaged in the general practice of law for over 46 years. His current primary areas of practice include estate planning, real estate, personal injury, and commercial litigation in Illinois and Iowa. He has presented numerous workshops over the years on estate planning and is a member of the Illinois, Iowa, Rock Island County and Scott County Bar Associations. He served on the Illinois Bar Association Committee on Legal Education, Admission and Competence for 6 years.
Mark has also been very involved in civic and community affairs. He served on the Rock Island City Council from 1981 to 1989 and was Mayor of Rock Island for 20 years from 1989 to 2009. Before stepping down as Mayor, he chaired the Bi-State Regional Commission, the Rock Island Arsenal Task Force, and was a Vice President of the Illinois Municipal League. Schwiebert Riverfront Park in the downtown was named in his honor in 2010. Mark has served on numerous regional boards and commissions, including those at Augustana College, the Figge Art Museum, Quad Cities Community Foundation, Quad City Botanical Center, Rock Island Preservation Commission, and UnityPoint Health System.
Mark is married to Deborah and they reside in Rock Island. In his free time, Mark enjoys travel with Debbie, watercolor and oil painting, writing, reading, as well as hiking and photography.
